UPDATE I've added a new section page here for inspirations. I'll try to add more to it from various sources as I have more time.
Hi there, I am a musician, sometimes music writer, and into reading and listening to (and sometimes making) poetry, community radio, drawings and zines. On this site I will hope to add links to where you can find examples of these activities. As well I may add some links to things that give me inspiration.
I grew up in on the west coast playing music and being around people playing music. My dad had been in bands and would have friends over to play folk music, and I went as a kid to jazz concerts with my mom around town. My brother and I would play guitar together and sing. Around 2009 or so I started writing my first few songs, doing a bit more fingerstyle guitar, and then doing some recordings in 2010 with good friend helping to make them. Since then I have continued to write songs pretty consistently year to year. I have also dabbled in ambient music and instrumental guitar/fingerstyle/guitar soli diversions. I have recently moved to Halifax with my family in Jan/'24.
My latest recording is Music for Snailports. A different path, into ambient guitar canyons and valleys of sound.
My latest song based album is called Listen/Image and I recorded it here at home in Halifax. It's a mix of spacey layers of electric and acoustic guitar, and falls into a kind of out there folk mood. At the link there are my old albums going back to 2010 with a variety of songwriting and recording fidelity levels as I've made my way through doing DIY recording projects and moving along as a songwriter.
These are album reviews and short writeups from a search for my writting tagged on Tumblr, where Dusted Magazine lives, who published my reviews. Dusted Magazine is an independent, volunteer run, music review site/blog that reviews a lot of experimental and under the radar music. It's great!
I used to do a folk/experimental radio show on CiTR 101.9FM in Vancouver, circa 2012 or so. Here's a link to my old show archive called Inner Journey. It was a short lived show where I played a bunch of Canadian and local folk, experimental, punk and stuff from old records I'd go digging to find.
